Mounting your Blue Bird House
Mount two of the connectors (The kit has 3) onto the conduit at either end of term short piece of conduit provided in your kit. Make sure the set screws are loose enough to get the connectors around the conduit. Once inserted tighten them up well. Holding the conduit as straight as you can, screw the two camps around the connectors top and bottom with the four wood screws provided. You can use a drill for he holes or use an awl to start the holes or, if you're feeling bold, just drive the screws in without any preparation. The clamps will make the assembly secure to the back so it won't twist in the wind. The last two pictures in the gallery below show you what it looks like when you're done.
Okay, that's the kit as provided. The next thing you need to do is make your way to a hardware store or lumber yard and get at least an eight foot pice of this conduit. It's 1/2" electrical conduit. You will also need to get at least 2 feet of 1/2" rebar like that used in construction. Sometimes people have pieces of this stuff hanging around their garage from projects they've done or even just laying around in the grass out back of the barn so to speak. Take the rebar, once you get it, and pound it into the ground using a mallet, leaving just enough of it sticking above the ground to mount the third connector, provided with the kit onto it. Then, attach the long piece of conduit you just bought to the birdhouse. Make sure you tighten the set screws real good so the blue bird house doesn't spin around and fall off and make the birds dizzy! Finish the job by putting the end of the conduit over the rebar sticking out of the ground and tighten the set screws down there and you are done. To buy the mounting kit click here.
