This is a an outside storage and sit space on an old time camp out on the shore of Lake Champlain in Vermont. When I got there it was pretty well rotted away with little of the original piece left. The owner wanted to preserve as much of the original as possible. In the end, all but a few framing prices were left and to make sure it lasted even longer than the last effort, improvements in the framing were included in the design. The siding material was custom made since the product they had was so old it was only available as a special order item and you had to make a house sized minimum order to get it. The original siding was also an 8" product and we decided to recreate it in a smaller version to bring it more in harmony with the siding on the house. Click through the images below.
Repairs to barn and addition of functional door to the loft they never had.
