The origin story of these little boats. When I was a kid growing up on the ocean one of our favorite pass times was going down on the rocks in front of our house and playing games in the tide pools and swimming in the gullies at high tide in summer. Yes, I was a lucky kid!
My best bud from next door and I used to use anything we could find and pretend it was a boat, a fishing rod or buoy, a dock or anything we wanted it to be. It was great fun. One day I went down to do my usual important kid stuff and the tide had washed up this little wooden craft that looks just like this one so I plopped it into our favorite tide pool and took it for a spin. Boy did it sail across the top of the water! I had hours and hours of fun with that thing for a whole summer. I don't know whatever happened to it but it occurred to me that some other kids might really like one too so I started making them to sell. They're way better than disposable plastic junk you get as beach toys these days and will last for years if you remember to bring it home and don't leave it at the beach! If you do, some lucky kid like me will find it and have the fun like I did when I found mine many years ago!
I make these little wooden boats here in my wood shop in Vermont. They are made from Vermont grown white cedar or white pine depending on which option you choose. they come to oy[you without any finish on them so you can paint them up any way you like, apply urethane or varnish, a paint scheme or just use them as it. It's up to you! Buy one. You might just find yourself playing with it too!
