Gash in the outer hull
After all the fiberglass and epoxy repairs to the bottom were completed, the bottom was sanded smooth and a coat of epoxy paint was applied to seal any minor cracks and gel coat defects.
I covered the epoxy paint with a coat of INTERLUX
Brightside® One-Part Polyurethane Paint. Usually reserved for aboive the watwrline but since thos boat is always trailored and nver left in the water I determined it woild be okay to use it on the entire bottom to spruce up the dull white gel coats and give a smooth cover to the grainy epoxy grey paint.
The final bottom coat is common Rustoleum, royal blue, to make it pop and it sure did.

I used a piece of nylon tubing to line the hole while I poured epoxy into the damaged area where the bolt goes through the boat. the tubing was a perfect fit for the new bronze rid I replaced the old rotted steel rod with.
Restoring the brightwork.
The old wiring systems on these older Whalers wasn't exactly stellar from the get go.
I got it working again but sooner than later the wiring harness will have to be replaced and run on the face of the hull inside the boat. The original wiring is inside the foam of the hull and always rotted out and couldn't be replaced as is.
